Thank you for taking the time to read this E-mail, one which needs to be acted upon in a timely fashion.   As you read, please take the time to review the listed web sites which show studies backing up the information in this e-mail, just as footnotes would do so in a book.  This information needs to be passed along to every parent with a child in school so they have options in the event this situation arises.  At the present time, California is working on a bill to indoctrinate children in primary grades about “gay” and lesbian issues with no opt out option for parents.  Exposing children to this information encourages experimentation and robs them of the most innocent years of their lives.

It is essential to understand that not all children, adolescents, or adults with unwanted same-sex attractions [SSA] identify as gay or lesbian (www.ismychildgay.net).  Contrary to the strong political agenda which has been around for 25 years the premise that SSA is inborn and unchangeable has had enormous negative impact on the lives of many individuals and their families.   As a public official, your obligation is to the safety and well being of your constituents.  It is your obligation to not only to allow but mandate that “the other side of the story" on these contentious issues to be presented to educators, child protective agencies, and students in all schools receiving state funds.

If you follow the links cited there, you can begin to distinguish differing points of view on this issue.   Literature can be requested through PFOX (www.pfox.org),, or the web site of International Healing Foundation  to assist you in advising your constituency on every aspect of the issue, including the fact that no reliable scientific evidence exists which proves anyone is born gay.   The most comprehensive information on the subject can be found at www.narth.com.

Most communities desire to do the "right thing" when they create organizations to help those with gender identity issues.  An example of such a program is EON ( a program of the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation, Pima County Health Department, and Wingspan); it exists in Tucson.  It is only logical to conclude that “doing the right thing” does not mandate withholding valuable information. 

 Clearly, no one wants to see SSA kids abused, living on the street, homeless, out of school or addicted to drugs, sex or alcohol.  At the same time, many gender discordant kids do not wish to identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, or questioning (GLBTQ).  These kids would best be characterized as having  DESIRES IN CONFLICT (which is the name of a book by Joe Dallas.)

Over 100 years of research clearly indicates as the primary causes of SSA are several risk factors such as childhood and adolescent wounds which have not been resolved. Contrary to this empirical evidence, youngsters are told that if they ever felt an attraction to someone of the same sex, it means they're gay.  While "gay" is a political identity that a person is free to choose if he/she and his/her family are fine with that choice, experience shows that most of these youngsters, and their families, welcome solid information explaining how one can change sexual orientation (and in the process walk away from homosexuality). How? By working on the underlying feelings or issues which caused their unwanted SSA in the first place.  Change is possible for those who seek it.   Certainly not every person wants to change and that is fine because that is a “choice”.  Some may have issues that inhibit their ability to change, and that is fine too.   In our liberal democracy, the key is providing "Freedom of Choice." Such freedom is restricted when these youngsters, their families, their caregivers, and their educators are not given information concerning their options regarding Same Sex Attraction. 

Childhood innocence is a one time thing.  At this time, governments are allowing politically-motivated adults the carte blanch opportunity to deprive children of their innocence.  Government

complacency deprives children with unwanted Same Sex Attraction the rights guaranteed by our Constitution - namely the G-d given right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.  Simply put, those who reinforce the notion that people are born gay and that "change" is impossible commit "psychological pedophilia" (a term developed by a gay man named John McKellar.)

Governmental complacency inadvertently supports a self perpetuating sub culture that provides perpetual clientele for mental health professionals and the pharmaceutical companies' long list of medications.  Every day, gay affirming mental health professionals “treat” these fine individuals for “internalized homophobia”.  This is a common excuse gay activists give for the massive, tragic increase in mental, physical, and spiritual disorders suffered by the gay community. 

You are not being asked to terminate any existing programs. Rather, I am suggesting that you provide equal protection of the law and avoid viewpoint discrimination. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions however they are not entitled to their own facts.  The existing programs need to offer access to balanced information on Same Sex Attraction.  By doing so, reasoned decisions can be made based upon competing viewpoints.  It is important that care be taken so that any written program is designed in a numbered page format so no individual with ties to either side of this issue have the ability or opportunity to remove any information. 

It is also critical to realize that censorship of materials currently exists in our school and public libraries.  Attention must be paid to this issue.  Parents of children with gender identity issues frantically search libraries and the internet for helpful information.  They never heard the terms “Same Sex Attraction” or  “Gender Discordance so information is from difficult to impossible to find.  Documentation of existing censorship which you need to view is available at www.endcensorship.com.

Please help individuals and families learn the full extent of available resources. For personal insights, you will need to attend and then compare the meetings of PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbian’s and Gays), www.pflag.org with that of PFOX (Parents and Friends of Gays and Ex-Gays.)   Many who attended a PFLAG meeting  found haunted expressions on so many of the faces of parents who are told to celebrate their child's homosexuality while at PFOX meetings the parents faces radiate with the possibility of hope and healing for their families.

Would you want your child to be gay or lesbian if there was a choice?   If the answer is yes, you certainly have the freedom to make that choice. However, if the answer is no, you should have access and knowledge of the many excellent therapists who have successfully worked with countless individuals who have grown out of unwanted SSA and accessed their innate heterosexuality.  The Greg Louganis story is one that does not need to be repeated..
